Brown will describe his ex- periences walking across the United States, as well as sharing his passion for the Constitution and American History Thirteen years ago, after ob- serving what he perceived to be a steady erosion of civil liber- ties, Brown felt a calling to ed- ucate the American public and stimulate interest in the Con- stitution, the Bill of Rights, and the study of our nation’s history Brown, a retired Bethel School District teacher, has now given more than 7,000 copies of the Bill of Rights, established a “Bill of Rights” scholarship for students, and has performed annually at 4th of July festivi- ties, including at Mount Rush- more National Park. As a part of his mission to promote the study of American history and the Constitution, Brown dresses in period correct historical attire while sharing his love and passion with fellow citizens. Brown continues to be best known for his Walk Across America. The walk began when he retired in 2010, when he started the 3,200-mile walk in Florence and ended in Atlantic City, N.J., walking across des- erts and over mountains and following along much of yester- day’s Oregon Trail. The presentation at the Li- brary by “A Son of Liberty,” as Ray Brown is nicknamed, is sure to entertain and enhance or remind members of the au- dience about the importance of our Constitution and history. This free event is open to the public and will appeal to every- one interested in the Constitu- tion, American history, and/or the stories of Ray Brown’s walk COURTESY PHOTO across America.
