Heinrich is the author of books such as “Winter World: The Ingenuity of Animal Survival,” “Mind of the Raven: Investigations and Adventures with Wolf- birds,” and “Life Everlasting: The Animal Way of Death.” “Tipping Toward Balance” with author Tracy Markley September is Fall Preven- tion Month. In honor of that, the library will pres- ent local author and fitness trainer Tracy Markley on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 1 p.m., in a discussion about walk- ing safely after strokes and other medical conditions. She will discuss the spe- cific muscles that are need- ed to be strengthened and why they are essential to strengthen balance and walking gaits. Fall preven- tion begins with having the muscles needed for balance, stability and mobility work- ing together as a team. Markley is the author of two books, “Tipping To- ward Balance: A Fitness Trainer’s Guide to Stabili- ty and Walking” and “The Stroke of an Artist: The Journey of a Fitness Trainer and a Stroke Survivor.” Both will be available for purchase following the presentation. Markley was recently asked to be on the Fitness Education Advisory Board at Medfit Education Foundation. to Atlantic City, N.J., stimu- lating interest and educating the American public about the Constitution, the Bill of Rights and the study of his- tory. In his continent-crossing walk, Brown followed much of the old Oregon Trail. He received a police escort across the Mississippi River and continued onward to Independence Hall in Phil- adelphia, until finally arriv- ing at Atlantic Ocean. Known as a “Son of Lib- erty” Brown continues to share his love for America and America’s history with community groups, schools, and libraries such as ours. Raymond Brown’s Walk Across America On Saturday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m., the library will be hosting Raymond Brown, discussing his “walk across America,” in which he walked 3,200 miles from the North Jetty in Florence, Story Times are back! Story times at the library have resumed after the Au- gust break.
