Siuslaw bridge
sidewalks
opening
Sidewalks on both sides
of the Siuslaw River Bridge
will be open beginning
today and will remain
open and available for use
through late September or
early October.
Crews will return in the
fall to complete the re-
maining bridge rail work
and finish the sidewalk on
the northwest corner of
the bridge. All traffic con-
trol devices will also be re-
moved until work resumes.
The Siuslaw River Bridge
Protection Project has been
repairing damaged con-
crete, applying a surface
coating to protect the struc-
ture from corrosion, adding
sidewalk features, installing
seismic upgrades and re-
placing bridge railings.
When crews return, side-
walk areas will be closed
again to protect people
from tripping and other
work zone hazards. Detour
routes for pedestrians and
those with disabilities will
be available and identi-
fied through or around the
work zones.
The project is on sched-
ule to be completed in early
2019.
