FUUF to hear about
Spirituali-Tea to explore Creation,
the Creator in group setting Monday history of angels Sunday
On Monday, Aug. 6, begin-
ning at 6:30 p.m., all are invit-
ed to join a group of people
who enjoy finding the common
grounds in diverse spiritual
thoughts and paths.
The meeting is at 875 Seventh
St. in Florence.
The topic is “The Creation
Seeking its Creator.”
Aristotle said, “All men by na-
ture desire to know.”
‘Abdu’l-Bahá said, “There are
certain pillars which have been
established as the unshakeable
supports of the Faith of God.
The mightiest of these is learn-
ing and the use of the mind, the
expansion of consciousness and
insight into the realities of the
universe and the hidden mys-
teries of Almighty God.”
All scientists — and probably
most people — love a mystery.
The human race’s common trait
— relentless curiosity — drives
people to constantly want to
know the things they don’t
know. All learning, all discovery
and all exploration rise out of
this basic unstoppable instinct.
Mysteries challenge people
to unlock their secrets. When
an astronaut flies into space,
when an anthropologist digs
into the ground, when a phi-
losopher or a seeker explores
the metaphysical world of the
soul, people gain knowledge,
increase a community’s under-
standing and opens the doors
of perception and spiritual
growth. When people unlock
the mysteries of the universe,
they begin to realize that each
new insight, each advancement
in knowledge, only brings
them greater and more pro-
found mysteries.
The gathering group will
meet under the following
premise, “This unending path
of discovery and knowledge
and the solving of mysteries,
beyond its fascinating scien-
tific aspects, also serves as the
largest possible metaphor: the
creation seeking its Creator.”
Bring thoughts on the sub-
ject for open discussion.
The gathering will end at 8
p.m. with prayers for the re-
quests left in the Prayer Pole
in the garden of the Florence
Playhouse and those shared by
the group.

tact Suzanne Mann-Heintz at

On Sunday, Aug. 5, from 10
until 11 a.m., at the Florence
Unitarian Universalist Fellow-
ship, the Rev. Dr. Marcia Pearce
will lead the worship service.
Her message is titled: “Enter-
taining Angels Unaware.”
“Records throughout the
centuries point to the existence
of angels,” Pearce said. “Some
people feel that it’s silly, naive
or even delusional to believe in
angels. We’re taught to believe
in what we can see, hear, touch,
measure and weigh. ‘I’ll believe
it when I see it,’ goes the expres-
sion.”
The Oxford English Dictio-
nary gives many different defi-
nitions for the word “angel:”
A ministering spirit, a divine
messenger, a spiritual being, a
minister of a church, are but few.
Recorded history gives us visible
traces in art and pictographs.
Pearce offers a more modern
and scientific theory for these
“friends,” one that is just as Sa-
cred as in years past, is applica-
ble to everyday life and that em-
braces both people’s humanity
and their divinity.
The fellowship is located at
87738 Highway 101 at Heceta
Beach Road and is wheelchair
accessible. Each service con-
cludes with refreshments and
a dialogue circle to explore the
questions that come up during
each worship service.
