OBITUARIES
ELLSWORTH—Ruth (De-
Wolf) Ellsworth, 89, of Eugene,
Ore., born June 21, 1929, in
Santa Cruz, Calif., to the late
Annie De-
Wolf
and
the
late
Robert De-
Wolf, passed
away July
17, 2018.
Ruth grew
up in Kelso,
Ruth Ellsworth Wash., and
g r a d u at e d
from Cas-
tle Rock High School in 1946,
where she was Senior Class
Secretary.
She was a homemaker. Ruth
was the loving wife of the late
Art Ellsworth.
She was also preceded in
death by her brother, Chuck
DeWolf; and sister, Annabelle
Tiegs
Ruth is survived by her son,
Bruce Ellsworth; daughters, Su-
san Schulz and Laura Huffman;
stepson, Terry Ellsworth; step-
daughter, Tarcile Ross; sister,
Betty Paine; nine grandchildren
and 15 great-grandchildren.
She had a passion for paint-
ing, sewing, gardening, hiking
and enjoyed garage sales and
other activities with her Sor-
genFri and Church friends.
In lieu of flowers, those who
wish may donate in Ruth’s
name to Pete Moore Hospice
House or Meals on Wheels.
Friends and family are wel-
come to attend the celebration
of life service, officiated by Pas-
tor Jim Osborne, on Saturday,
July 28, at 3 p.m., at Allison
Park Christian Church, 1520
Echo Hollow Rd., in Eugene.
BECHTOLD —Rob er ta
“Bert” Bechtold, 84, passed
away peacefully July 18, 2018.
Roberta
had lived
in Florence
for over 60
years. She
was born
in
Little
Rock, Ark.,
and
lat-
er moved
Roberta
with her
Bechtold
family to
Wa s h i ng -
ton state,
where she met her husband-to-
be, Dean Bechtold.
They were married for 63
years and, together, they had
four children: Debra, Chris,
Julie and Kurt. Between their
four children, they were bless-
ed with 10 grandchildren and
14 great-grandchildren.
Some of Bert’s favorite hob-
bies included bowling, cook-
ing and sewing. She also loved
to crochet and made beautiful
blankets for her grandchildren.
Living up the North Fork,
she was able to fulfill her pas-
sion for gardening and her love
for nature.
Bert lovingly took care of her
husband until his passing in
2014. She lived her remaining
years in the same home they
had shared for over 50 years.
She will be missed by all who
were fortunate enough to know
her, and will be remembered for
her kind, open-minded heart.
Please join us for a celebra-
tion of life luncheon on Satur-
day, July 28.
It will be held at the Pier
Point Inn at noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations
can be made to the local animal
shelter in her name.

Heceta Water District board positions open
There are three Board of
Director seats on the Heceta
Water District that will be up
for election in the November
election. Heceta Water PUD is
divided into five subdivisions.
To be qualified to run for these
seats, applicants must currently
live within the subdivision with
an open seat, be a registered
voter and have lived in Heceta

Arts Program
The City of Florence is
seeking proposals from
qualified individuals or
firms with a proven track
record to provide grant
writing services for the
City’s Public Art Commit-
tee. Successful applicants
will demonstrate an ability
to provide all of the fol-
lowing: researching and
finding appropriate grants,
drafting a strategic plan,
writing, submitting and se-
curing grants.
Proposers must provide
submittal in either digital
or hard copy format by 5
p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 14,
to Kelli Weese, City Re-
corder/Economic Develop-
ment Coordinator for the
City of Florence, 250 High-
way 101.

The term is for four years,
and the board generally meets
once a month throughout the
year.
The seats that are open for
this election are for Subdivi-
sions 1, 2 and 5. There is a map

ed at 87845 Highway 101.

able at the office or online at
the Lane County Elections
website.
