he 2018 “Stand Around Rod and
Classic Car Show” held last Saturday
at the Florence Elks was sponsored
by the Rhody Cruisers and was considered
quite the success by organizers.
Vehicles included approximately 20 of the
37 cars and trucks from Reno, Nev., that
were touring the Northwest.
Hot cars from Waldport’s HWY 101 also
participated in the show.
DJ Jep, from the Elks, provided old-time
rock & roll music from the 50s and 60s.
The Elks also served hamburgers, hot
dogs and soda.
Exalted Ruler Chef Danny and all Elk
members assisted in putting on the show.
Members of Rhody Cruisers dared the
rain by bringing their classics and rods to
the first-ever “Stand Around,” which is a
car show for anyone who has a unique car
or truck wanting to display their vehicle at
an informal gettogether.
“Hopefully this will be a future event in
the years to come,” said Gary McDonald,
President of the, Rhody Cruisers Car Club.
