Far West announces baseball, softball all-stars
Ten Siuslaw players make the list of the league’s best

Earlier this week, coaches from
baseball and softball throughout the
Far West League met to determine
who would be honored as this year’s
members of the All-League roster.
When the final votes were tabulat-
ed, a combined total of 10 players, five
each from Siuslaw's softball and base-
ball programs, were among those on
the list recognized for outstanding per-
formance this season.
Lady Vikings included Second
Team honors for sophomore pitcher
Nina Aaron, who started for Siuslaw
all season.
Center fielder Katlin Meskimen, a
senior, was also given Second Team
recognition.
Honorable Mention honors went to
junior catcher Alexis Smith, along
with senior infielders Abby Coday at
third base and shortstop Ariel
Rosinbaum.
In baseball, junior Gabe Simington
(pitcher, first base) and senior Tanner
Wilson (outfielder), both of Mapleton,
were named to the Far West’s Second
Team All-League roster.
Siuslaw’s baseball program also
had three Honorable Mention nods,
including senior Evan Teter and soph-
omores Jared Northrop (second base)
and Caleb Hennessee (pitcher, short-
stop).
The Viking boys finished fifth in
league play (2-13) and th Lady
Vikings placed fourth overall (4-11) in
the final season of the Far West
League.
This fall, Siuslaw will join the
newly assigned Sky-Em League.

ning feels good to players
and spectators alike. You
need only to look at the
faces of spectators and
players immediately after
the contest. You and I know
the outcome by their faces.
I would like to test this
attitude with a simple situa-
tion. Please do not read
ahead and respond with
your emotions when asked.
Just think of them in your
head; there is no need to
write them down.
But be honest to yourself.

Spencer competed at state in
both the high jump and 300-
meter intermediate hurdles last
week after qualifying with sec-
ond-place finishes during the
Special District 5 meet at
McKenzie High School.
Thursday, Spencer cleared a
PR height of 5 feet, 10 inches,
besting his district mark by 2
inches to place fourth in the 1A.
As of press time, Spencer
had yet to compete in the hur-
dles. Also competing at state
were freshmen Jeremy Bender
in the 110-meter high hurdles,
JJ Neece in the triple jump and
Jazzy Roby in the 1,500-meter
race. Full results were unavail-
able at press time.
