more than $1 million

On May 9, the Oregon Coast
Humane Society (OCHS) ac-
cepted a generous donation from
the Sutton Trust.
John and Jo Ann Sutton are
life-long animal lovers who re-
tired to their home in Greentrees
in 1995 and soon became mem-
bers of the Florence Area Hu-
mane Society, now known as the
Oregon Coast Humane Society.
Jo Ann Sutton is still in com-
munication with shelter mem-
bers and staff and said she was
pleased to contribute to the work
being done at OCHS.
The trust, formed in the cou-
ple’s name, gifted $1,186,768 to
the OCHS.

Florence’s Farmers Market had a successful opening May 15 at the Veteran’s Park on Bay Street. The initial group of
vendors, who are part of what will be a weekly Tuesday market, offered mushrooms, meat, herbs, lettuce, leeks, onions
and other locally produced farm and garden products.

On Sunday, April 22, The Pres-
byterian Church of the Siuslaw
celebrated new members as 14
people joined the church.
There were also three adult
baptisms, and an infant baptism
of the child of one of the new
members.
Each was between the ages of to
a bit older than 80. A celebration
reception lunch was held after the
service, which only ran 10 min-
utes longer than usual.

each of the new members intro-
duced them and told a short part
of their life stories.
The congregation started the
year with 103 members and wel-
comed the new brothers and sis-
ters into its church family.
Presbyterian Church of the Siu-
slaw celebrates worship at 10 a.m.

ence.
