Members of the Siuslaw Volleyball Association’s 12U team won the tournament title at Chemeketa College in Salem over the weekend, going unde-
feated through the tourney, including winning all matches without a tie-breaker. In the championship, Siuslaw defeated Eugene’s Webfoot 12U in two
sets, 25-16, 25-8. The team is coached by Siuslaw High School amumni Holly Smith (center). The team now advances to regionals at the Portland Expo
Center, April 27-29.

Hannah Rannow entered the
school record books with a 3000-
meters time of 10:59.09, garnering
her the eighth-fastest women’s
time in Siuslaw’s history.

he Siuslaw track and field team
spent its time serving double-
duty this past weekend, with
athletes competing in both Junction
City and Roseburg.
At the Junction City Invitational,
sophomores Brea Blankenship and
Ryan Rendon-Padilla turned in stand-
out performances in the javelin and 800
meters, respectively.
Padilla launched the javelin 152 feet,
2 inches to win the event, followed
with a second-place throw by Viking
freshman Skyler Loomis with a person-
al best of 135-9.
In the 800-meter race, Blankenship
edged out Elmira junior Andrea Griffin
for the win after crossing the finish less
than a second ahead in 2:42.10.
Blankenship went on to place third in
the 1500 meters (5:33.9) and also ran a
leg on the winning 4x400-meter relay
