This season’s fifth-grade Stream Team was on hand for the presentation during its visit to the trap. Citizen volunteers sought for Dunes City committees Several opportunities exist for Dunes City residents to contribute to their communi- ty. The Planning Commission is seeking a new member to replace Brett McKnight, who recently resigned. The Planning Commission considers land use applica- tions and revisions to land use codes. Members of the Planning Commission also provide oversight of the City’s Citizen Involvement Program. This position offers an excellent opportunity to learn how the implementation of land use code takes place, what must be done to change codes, and the process of pub- lic hearings. The Budget Committee is seeking two additional mem- bers to replace vacancies cre- ated as terms ended. This is the group that helps guide the fiscal future of the city by set- ting spending guidelines. For anyone with prior budgeting experience who wants to get involved, the position is an ideal place to serve Dunes City. Community members inter- ested in any of these volun- teer opportunities can stop by Dunes City Hall, 82877 Spruce St. in Westlake, or call 541-997-3338 to obtain an application. The application is also available at the City’s web- site. There is no cutoff date for applications, however early applicants may be appointed as soon as Dunes City Council meets at its next regularly scheduled time, which is the second Wednesday of every month, beginning at 6 p.m. Applicants will be notified of the date the Dunes City Council will consider their application and should plan on attending the meeting. All applicants must reside in Dunes City.
