Friends of the Siuslaw
Library hold book sale
The Friends of the Library
are hard at work gathering and
sorting books for its upcoming
book sale, which will be held
Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 10
and 11, in the Bromley Room
at the Siuslaw Public Library
main branch, 1460 Ninth St. in
Florence, from 10 a.m. until 4
p.m.
The Friends welcome dona-
tions of books, DVDs and
CDs. If you have items in good
condition to donate, please
bring them to the Circulation
desk at the Florence branch.
Receipts for tax purposes are
available upon request. If you
know you will want a receipt,
be sure to have a count of the
quantity of each type of item
you are donating. The sale will
also include items withdrawn
from circulation in the library.

sanctuary
While you are at the library,
consider filling out an applica-
tion for membership in the
Friends of the Siuslaw Public
Library.
All members will have an
exclusive “early bird” hour
beginning at 9 a.m. on
Saturday. Applications for
membership will also be avail-
able at the book sale.
Don’t miss this great oppor-
tunity to get some great books
at bargain prices, and help the
Friends and the library at the
same time.
The Friends of the Siuslaw
Public Library is a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization and all
proceeds benefit the Siuslaw
Public Library.

holds Jan. 31 open house
The Lane Community
College Florence Center will
be holding its Spring
Continuing Education Open
House on Wednesday, Jan. 31,
at 1 p.m.
The college will be sharing
information on upcoming non-
credit classes and Outward
Ventures, along with offering a
sneak peek at its planned fall
trip to Ireland. Attendees will
have a chance to win a $50
credit for a spring offering.

Sacred Animal
Sanctuary recently
began donating food
for the animals of
clients of Siuslaw
Outreach Services
(SOS). The sanctuary is
located in Walton,
Ore., and takes in all
types of animals that
are aging or need end
of life care.
Representatives also
work with local senior
groups to provide con-
tact and quality time
with the animals in
their care.
