Child Support
Friday at 8 p.m. on KATU,
KEZI
The title of this premiering
series is appropriate, but may
suggest that it’s something it
isn’t. It’s actually a game show,
with Ricky Gervais among
its creative forces. The sly
actor-comedian chats with five
youngsters and gets them to
answer questions – which then
are posed to adult contestants,
who can rely in the kids to
“save” them if they’re stumped.
Fred Savage, who’s been doing
quite a bit of sitcom directing
lately, is the host.
Ten Days in the Valley
Saturday at 9 p.m. on KATU
The “days” are done as the last
two scheduled episodes of this
drama series air back-to-back —
and with the home-video set’s re-
lease several days earlier, those
who can’t wait to see how the
mystery turns out have a chance
to see it before this telecast. Kyra
Sedgwick wraps up her role as
television producer Jane, whose
young daughter’s (Abigail Pnio-
wsky) abduction set the story in
motion. “Day 9: ReCast” is fol-
lowed by “Day 10: Fade Out.”
Erika Christensen, Adewale
Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kick Gurry,
Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Josh
Randall also star.
The 3rd Annual Howie
Mandel Stand-Up Gala
Wednesday at 8 p.m. on
KWBP
Though Mandel’s main televi-
sion identity now is as a judge
on “America’s Got Talent,” he
still does live comedy perfor-
mances frequently, and he stag-
es events that also showcase
other stars of humor. Recorded
during the Just For Laughs
Festival in Montreal. this new
special captures one of those
occasions, as he introduces
established comics — including
Cedric the Entertainer, Cristela
Alonzo and Ron Funches — as
well as rising talents in that
field.
