M ark your calendar for Satur-
T he FEC Galleries announce the 4th annual “For the Love of
Animals!” exhibit at the FEC. Here is some important informa-
tion for the themed Rent-a-Rod Exhibit.
*Th e deadline for artists to submit their applications is January
26th, 2018.
*Rods for up to three pieces of art work can be purchased for
$20.00 per rod. 3-D items relating to the animal theme are also
welcome for the display case. Up to three 3-D items can be dis-
played for $20.00.
*Packets with information will be available on the F.E.C.
website on January 3rd or may be picked up at the offi ce during
regualr business hours, Monday through Friday.
*Artwork will hang during the months of February and March.
*Th e Artist’s Reception and Fundraiser for the Oregon Coast
Humane Society will be on Saturday, February 10th, from 10:00
a.m. – 2:00 p.m. A portion of the proceeds from this event will be
donated to the Oregon Coast Humane Society.

for an evening of a taste of Paris
with chocolate, wine and art.
When you arrive, imagine
hearing traditional café music,
indulging in wine and numerous
chocolate treats from a choco-
late fountain. Stroll through the
famous Montmartre watching re-
nowned painter Michael F Wood
paint animal portraits.
As you move through the streets,
you will be transported to the Eif-
fel tower for a vintage photo op.
On to the stalls of the Marche’
– Paris’s famous Flea Market. You
will be able to purchase and do
your silent auction bidding. A live
auction will feature bigger items to
bid on.

C.R.O.W. brings Tarzan to F.E.C.
C .R.O.W. Announces Open Au-
ditions For "Disney’s Tarzan,” to be
performed at the Florence Events
Center in April of 2018.
Washed up on the shores of West
Africa, an infant boy is taken in and
raised by gorillas who name him
"Tarzan." Apart from striving for
acceptance from his ape father, Tar-
zan's life is mostly monkey business
until a human expedition treks into
his tribe's territory, and he encoun-
ters creatures like himself for the
fi rst time.
Tarzan struggles to navigate a
jungle, thick with emotion, as he
discovers his animal upbringing
clashing with his human instincts.
Th e musical is based on the Disney
cartoon by the same name.
C.R.O.W. (Children’s Repertory of
OR workshops) proudly announces
open auditions January 8th and 9th.
Based on Disney's epic animated
musical adventure and Edgar Rice
Burrough's Tarzan of the Apes,
Tarzan features heart-pumping
music by rock legend, Phil Collins,
and a book by Tony Award-winning
playwright, David Henry Hwang.
High-fl ying excitement and hits, like
the Academy Award winning "You'll
Be in My Heart," as well as "Son
of Man" and "Two Worlds," make
Tarzan an unforgettable theatrical,
musical experience.
Th e show will be presented April
13th-15th at the Florence Events
Center, and for invited school audi-
ences on April 12th.
C.R.O.W. is a Florence-based 501
(c) 3 organization and is dedicated
to giving back to the community by
providing quality performing arts
experiences to local youth.
Th ere are great roles for ages
6-22+, and all young people are
encouraged to try out regardless of
previous stage experience. (Mature
3.5-6 years olds may be considered
for "Telegrammers”- which is a re-
duced commitment.)
Auditions will be held at C.R.O.W.
Center for the Performing Arts –
3120 Hwy 101 on January 8th and 9th
at 6:30 p.m. Invited Callbacks will be
held on January 10th at 6:30 p.m.
Th ere are approximately 40-45
onstage roles, and several behind the
scenes jobs for kids interested in tech-
nical theater.
To audition or participate back-
stage, kids must attend the audition.
Parents should also attend to help
fi ll out forms. Onstage performer
hopefuls will need to bring 16 bars or
about one minute from a song that
they would like to sing (sheet music
or a CD, MP3 track with no back-
ground voices is also acceptable), and
a headshot/resume if they have one.
Prospective cast members will also
be taught a short dance combination,
and those asked to come to callbacks

Jazz Kings - “A Pocketful of Dreams”
T he Emerald City Jazz Kings will
celebrate the songs of Bing Crosby
with “A Pocketful of Dreams” on
Sunday, February 11th at 2:00 p.m.
at the Florence Events Center.
In 1947, an Associated Press poll
declared him "the most admired
man alive"- ahead of Jackie Robin-
son, Pope Pius the XII and President
Harry S. Truman.
In 1948, Music Digest estimated
that more than half of the 80,000
hours of recorded music broadcast
on radio each week were fi lled with
his recordings.
In 1954, Decca Records declared
that "the voice of Bing Crosby, has
been heard by more people than the
voice of any other human being who
has ever lived.”
By mid-century, the crooner's
voice, face and personality were
indeed seemingly everywhere.

Rehearsals for Tarzan will begin
mid-January and are generally held
weeknights from 6:30- 8:45 pm. A
schedule will be available for perusal at
the audition.

these productions is a big commit-

shows is very hard work and requires
dedication, but when the curtain opens
