T he Friends of the Florence Events
Center and Sea Lion Caves are
proud to bring the 16th Annual
Winter Music Festival to the FEC
main stage on January 12 through
the 14th. Featuring headliner Al
Stewart and a line up of a dozen
accomplished musicians with Amer-
icana, bluegrass, folk, country and
rock-n-roll fl avors - the Winter
Music Festival is worth the price of
admission.
Tickets for Saturday night’s “Th e
Main Event,” sponsored by Brand-
borg Winery are already selling
briskly. Opening for Stewart that
evening is troubadour and storytell-
er, John Craigie.
Th e “Friday Night Th rowdown,”
sponsored by Th e Grocery Outlet,
showcases Grammy winning Blue-
grass Icon Laurie Lewis & Th e Right
Hands and the blistering Americana
banjo artistry of Jeff Scroggins &
Colorado.
Oregonfast.Net will be the sponsor
for the “SuperSession 16” beginning at
10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Several groups
are returning by popular demand for
this general admission event: Pretty
Gritty, Cabin Fever NW, Calaveras, and
the high energy fi ddlin’ of Castletown.
Petunia & the Vipers (“Th e Canadian
Hank Williams/Woody Guthrie/Tom
Waits/Elvis Presley”) will round out the
aft ernoon.
Th e Gospel Gumbo Gathering on
Sunday, sponsored by Th e Waterfront
Depot, features Billy Jones, Marty
Adams, and local choir members in
a Gospel Singalong; followed by the
PNW’s number one a cappella group,
On the Rocks.
Th e popular FRAA Artisan Fair,
Ladies of Elks sponsored pie sale, food
and drink off erings (Pavilion Catering,
Ninkasi Brewery, Brandborg Winery,
and others), plus the awesome late
night jam sessions and amazing inter-
actions will round out the successful
weekend.
Th e core of the festival remains the
two Kids Concerts, provided at no cost
to more than 900 area school children
from Mapleton, Reedsport and Siu-
slaw Elementary Schools. Students
are bussed to the FEC from funding
provided by sponsors and grants.
Tickets to the Winter Music Festival are available during business hours at the
Florence Events Center from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 541-997-1994. Tickets may

Quattrosound
Q uattrosound will kick off the New Year for Seacoast with its return
engagement to the Event Center on Wednesday, January 17 at 7 p.m., with
a pre-concert talk at 6:15.
Th is innovative ensemble fuses Classical, Latin Pop and Jazz for a sound
that is all their own. Th ey are highly engaging and draw the audience into
their performance as many who enjoyed their prior visit to Florence will
recall. Th is show will be a bright spot in the gloom of January rains!
Th ese four musicians combine violin, cello, guitars and percussion with
amazing lead vocals and four part harmonies. Th ey radiate high energy,
good humor and fun from the stage with their playful vocal arrangements
creating a sound that satisfi es even the most discerning of musical pal-
ettes.
