EMPTY BOWLS B artists uy an and, empty,
in the process, help someone who may
otherwise go hungry for the holidays.
Th at’s been the idea behind the annual Empty
Bowls event for the past 22 years. Th is year’s event
will off er more than 500 handmade ceramic, glass
and wooden bowls to the public, created by many
local artists, with the purchase price of $5 and up.
One of a kind wooden artwork (sushi boards,
coasters, trivets and more) will be available from
local artist Rhonda Butler. In addition, Food
Share will have a silent auction table full of won-
derful art and items of all kinds.
Th e 22nd Annual Empty Bowls fundraiser
opens Friday, December 1st from 5:00 p.m. to
7:00 p.m. continuing December 2nd, Saturday
from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and concluding on
December 3rd, Sunday from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Every year sponsors, local restaurants, Lane
Community College artists, Siuslaw High School
artists and numerous volunteers join together to
make this community event a success.
All proceeds from this fundraiser make it possi-
ble for the Florence Food Share to provide ser-
vices to those in need in the area.
Admission is free to the event and the public is
encouraged to attend.

Old Fashioned Christmas

T he Emerald City Jazz Kings and Jesse Cloninger
bring an old fashioned Christmas for their 2017-
18 season to the FEC on Wednesday, December
13th at 7:30 p.m.
Th e Jazz Kings will bring you a heartwarming
Christmas show with Shirley Andress returning as
artistic director. With songs like “I’ll be home for
Christmas,” “Silver Bells,” “Winter Wonderland,”
and “Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas,”
audiences may pause and refl ect on the passage of
time and the warm memories of Christmas past.
Tickets are available now through the Florence
Events Center box offi ce.
