Tips to help identify signs of teen dating violence
Teen dating violence is what hap-
pens in a teen dating relationship
when one person uses abuse to gain
power and keep control over his or
her partner. This abuse can be phys-
ical, emotional or sexual.
Anyone can be a victim of dating
violence. It makes no difference
what sex, race or ethnic background
a person is.
Anyone can be a victim.
Anyone can be an abuser.
Dating violence is a consistent
pattern of verbal (or emotional)
abuse, physical abuse or sexual
abuse. Emotional abuse can be as
serious as physical abuse.
Does your partner call you
names? Humiliate you? Isolate you
from your friends? Make all the
decisions? Threaten you? Make you
afraid?
Don’t keep any abuse secret.
The more people who know, the
safer you are.
Get help by informing family,
friends or by contacting a domestic
violence program. You are not alone.
Help your friends who may be vic-
tims. They need you as a friend now
more than ever.
Do not accept any abuse from
anyone or to anyone. Judges know
the problems of dating violence. If
you have to get an order of protec-
tion to be safe, do it.
Kicking, hitting and punching are
types of physical abuse — and once
is too many times.
A relationship should never be
about one person telling the other
person what to think, do or how to
act.
Murder is the ultimate horror of
dating violence and the cause of 24
percent — or nearly one quarter —
of teen homicides.
In many cases, victims are afraid
to leave abusers because they are
afraid of being hit harder.
Leave and be a survivor rather
than a statistic.
Orders of protection tell the
abusers what they can and cannot
do. Physical abuse doesn't always
leave bruises, but always leaves
scars.
Qualified counselors are available
to help teen dating violence victims
24 hours a day.
Call any time for support.
Sexual abuse can be anything
from ruining your reputation, to
touching you improperly, to rape.
The abuser wants you to think that
no one will believe you and that no
one cares about you.
The abuser is wrong.
People believe because people
care. Abuse should not be a secret.
Understand that you are not alone:
friends, family, teachers, police,
judges are all there to help — but
only you can begin to make that
change.
Teen dating violence hurts every-
one, so help stop the hurt.
Each year, about 25 percent of all
teens are dating violence victims.
Zero tolerance is the only accept-
able level of teen dating violence.
If you or someone you know is
being abused, one agency to call for
assistance is My Sister’s Place at
541-574-9424, 541-994-5959 or 1-
800-841-8325.
Also report suspected abuse to the
police.
Don’t let the abuse continue.

Coldwell Banker Coast Real Estate
I was born in Vernonia, Ore., and moved
to Roseburg when I was 4. I attended school
there, including two years at Umpqua
Community College, before receiving a degree
in marketing/business with a minor in psychol-
ogy at Oregon State University. When I was
25, my partner and I purchased the
Gingerbread Village restaurant in Mapleton. In
1984, we also bought the Windward Inn in
Florence. After four years, I left the Windward
Inn in 1988 and solely focused on running the
Gingerbread restaurant until 2004. After 25
years in the restaurant industry, I decided it

acting with people and helping them fulfill their dreams of home ownership.
This is a great community and I'm proud to call it home.

Dana Dane Insurance
Seattle was a great place for me
to grow up but Florence has so
much outdoor fun to offer with the
advantage of living in a small town,
and such a beautiful one. Doing
business with people in Florence
is really a pleasure. It’s comfort-
ing to see the familiar faces of my
clients around town. I was new to
Florence in 1994. Now, it’s as if I
have extended family here. I appre-
ciate every one of you very much.
Thank you.

West Coast Real Estate Services, Inc.
I love what I do. My career in Real Estate began in
1989, the last 25 years of which I have been licensed
as a Principal Broker. During this time I’ve had the
privilege of working on a wide array of Real Estate
transactions and dealing with many wonderful clients,
contractors and vendors in the Florence area.
It is important to me to seek out additional educa-
tion opportunities to keep up with current Real Estate
trends and provide a higher level of service to my
clients. For instance, most recently I earned the NAR’s
GREEN designation which helps me stay on top of
green Real Estate issues and trends.
I have a deep respect for the goals and concerns
of my clients and, because of this, have exceeded the
expectations of my clients. This has made me both
friends and clients “for life”.
To ensure efficient & complete service for my
clients I have carefully selected a team of assistants
who are as enthusiastic about helping you with every aspect of your Real Estate needs, as
I am. We are known for providing outstanding service and sticking with our clients till the
job is done.
