Jimmy Carter, the 39th President of the United States and winner of the Nobel Peace prize in 2002, celebrated
his 93rd Birthday on Oct. 1. The former President has maintained a high profile since losing his re-election
campaign against Ronald Reagan in 1980. Carter is also a former governor of Georgia and the founder of the
Carter Center, a nonprofit aid agency that was founded in 1982 and operates world wide in association with
Emory University. The organization has assisted in resolving conflicts and assisting with refugee emergencies
across the globe for decades. The work done at the Carter Center has benefited hundreds of thousands of
individuals over the years through vaccination and food distribution, as well has his continued involvement
with Habitat for Humanity projects around the world. For the last 10 years, admirers of Carter have held birth-
day parties across the country to celebrate the man, his wife Rosalynn and the work of the Carter Center. In
Florence, Patricia Jamison (above) of the local Habitat for Humanity program prepares to cut a cake for Carter
in appreciation. Giant birthday cards signed by dozens of community members were also sent to the past
President on behalf of the Florence Habitat for Humanity program.

“His passion is motivating to
our entire hospice team, and he
encourages us to devote our
hearts to providing service
excellence for our patients,”
said Kathy Murphy, manager
of home care services. “He
always seems to go above and
beyond the call of duty for his
team and for his patients. His
commitment to serving our
patients is an example to others
of what our PeaceHealth mis-

Bryan was awarded for her
attitude, kindness, attention to

“Amanda’s compassion for
her patients shows in how she
