SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2017
WLAD
from 1A
ambulance district on personal
and professional levels.
Kreitz was visibly moved as
he added his personal reflections
of Stonelake and was joined in a
hearty round of applause for the
former board member from all in
attendance.
Farnsworth was sworn in fol-
lowing Stonelake’s recognition
ceremony.
In his chief director’s report,
Langborg discussed several
items.
Most notably, he urged the
board to authorize the purchase
of new administrative software
sold by Board Portal and
to
retain
the
services
of
Emergency
Services
Consulting
International
(ESCI) to facilitate the district’s
strategic plan for the future.
Board members briefly dis-
cussed the issues and passed
them unanimously, with the plan
to attend an initial training on the
use of the new software on Oct.
27.
The board also approved doc-
uments pertaining to a new sub-
committee’s guidelines and
process improvement forms for
the intergovernmental agreement
(IGA) with Siuslaw Valley Fire
and Rescue to share administra-
tive services.
Western Lane appointed direc-
tors Farnsworth and Cindy
Russell to serve on the “as need-
ed” IGA panel.
During last week’s Siuslaw
Valley meeting, directors John
Carnahan and Ned Hickson vol-
unteered to be the other members
of the subcommittee.
Langborg also provided an
update to the construction time-
line to be undertaken relating to
the improvements financed by a
seismic grant received by the dis-
trict.
The first location included in
the grant will be the Western
Lane Ambulance District Office.
“They are doing a lot of pre-
liminary work now that needs to
be done,” Langborg said. “They
are going to the planning depart-
ment at the city and they feel that
we can expect to see construction
begin in the November time
frame, starting at this station,
because they know that this our
primary focus. We want to begin
protecting our rescue equipment
as soon as possible.”
During the remainder of the
meeting, the board approved the
administrative report, updated
the district personal device poli-
cy and authorized payment of the
district’s monthly bills.
Western Lane and Siuslaw
Valley will be holding a public
meeting on Friday, Oct. 27, at 10
a.m. to discuss the organizations’
strategic plans and their IGA
Implementation Plan. The work-
shop will be held at the Main Fire
Station, 2625 Highway 101.
