The Viking cross country
team was literally on new
ground last Saturday when the
team competed in the Rock ‘n’
River cross country meet at
Elijah Bristow State Park in
Pleasant Hill.
The event was new to
Siuslaw this season, with 82
runners competing in the boys
competition and 71 runners on
the course for the girls race.
Viking sophomore Brendon
Jensen had Siuslaw’s best fin-
ish, completing the 5,000-
meter run in 17 minutes, 25.9
seconds for fourth place over-
all.
Senior Isaac Griffes was the
second Viking to cross the fin-

Philomath finished first with
43 points and a narrow 5-point
win over the Viks.
