annual scholarship breakfast
fundraiser for the Harley Huff
Sr. Memorial Scholarship on
Saturday, Sept. 30, from 7 to
11 a.m.
The cost is by donation.
Breakfast includes biscuits
with sausage gravy or pan-
cakes with eggs and sausage,
juice and coffee.
Last year, the Ada Grange
was able to award three $500
scholarships.
The Grange Hall is located
10 miles out Canary Road.

Flu shots to be availiable
at Florence Senior Center
Rite Aid will be at the
Florence Senior Center on
Oct. 11, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Anyone 65 years and older
can receive a flu vaccine, and
anyone under 65 years of age
can receive the Quadrivalent
vaccine.
The Florence Senior Center

Starlight Cabaret brings
‘sacred sounds of music’
The Florence Unitarian
Universalist
Fellowship's
(FUUF) Starlight Cabaret
will be hosting Flavia
Krishna and Gershone on
Tuesday, Sept. 26.
The two musicians’ aim
is to spread light through
the sacred sounds of music,
bringing devotional con-
nection through kirtan and
songs in a variety of lan-
guages, including Sanskrit,
English, Portuguese, Hebrew
and Spanish.
The performance is from 6
to 8 p.m., with doors opening
at 5:30 p.m.
Tea and coffee will be pro-
vided and the public is wel-
comed to bring finger food
and snacks.
A $15 donation is suggest-
ed, but the event is free to all.

awarded a grant check in the
amount of $2,500 to local
youth nonprofit organization,
CROW (Children’s Repertory
of Oregon Workshop).
Accepting the grant was
CROW’s Artistic Director and
Founder Melanie Heard and
board member and costume
designer Polly Fleming.
Funds were provided as part
of the US Bank Foundation’s
2017 “Play” grant cycle, which
provides support for local arts
organizations that enhance the
economic vitality of the com-
munity.
US Bank Foundation’s web-
site states, “We believe all peo-
ple deserve the opportunity to
dream, believe and achieve.”
These are exactly the impor-
tant kind of opportunities that
CROW has provided since
2011, said Heard, who
explained that the organization
allows local children and fami-
lies to access high-caliber arts
education.
