CROW to hold
‘Kids’fundraising car wash
The Children’s Repertory of
Oregon Workshops (CROW),
a nonprofit youth theater
organization, is looking for
more help in finishing the
CROW Center for the
Performing Arts.
The incomplete area marks
about 2/3 of the unique per-
forming arts educational
space, and is comprised of a
soon to be built dressing room
for boys and girls, workshop
for scenic artistry, green room
and cast member restroom.
About $20,000 in upgrades
are still needed to finalize the
plumbing, electrical, drywall,
flooring and paint.
CROW is dedicated to pro-
viding high-caliber youth arts
opportunities and experiences
that reach all ages. Through
classes, camps, workshops, an
annual Haunted House, live
theatrical presentations on the
mainstage of the Florence
Events Center and an annual
community holiday perform-
ance, CROW has proven that
the arts matter.
To help fund the renovation,
CROW will be hosting a
fundraiser car wash on
Saturday, Sept. 23, from 11
a.m. to 3 p.m. at the CROW
Center for the Performing
Arts, located at 3120 Highway
101.
“You’ve been driving oh so
far, so let a CROW kid wash
your car,” said CROW Artistic
Director Melanie Heard.
“Your donation of any size at
this car wash makes a dramat-
ic difference in the lives of our
local children. Show up, get
your car washed, and show
you care.”

seek for help to clean up
The Oregon Commission on
Historic Cemeteries is partner-
ing with SOLVE to bring
cemetery cleanups into the
statewide Beach & Riverside
Cleanup, presented by the
Oregon Lottery.
Many of these cemeteries
were established in the 1800s
and are in need of helping
hands to remove invasive
weeds and woody debris,
clean headstones and assist in
other tasks before the onset of
winter.
State law established the
seven-member
Oregon
Commission on Historic
Cemeteries to maintain a list-
ing of all historic cemeteries
and gravesites in Oregon; pro-
mote public education on the
significance of historic ceme-
teries; and obtain financial and
technical assistance for restor-
ing, improving and maintain-
ing their appearances.
All cleanups will take place
on Saturday, Sept. 23, unless
noted otherwise.
To see a complete list of
cemeteries and sign up, visit
the SOLVE website at www
.solveoregon.org/historic-
cemetery-cleanups.

tact Kuri Gill at 503-986-
