Healing Blanket program is
proud to celebrate and
announce the completion of the
2,000th Healing Blanket.
Members of the Tuesday
Sewing Group knit, crochet
and quilt these blankets.
The hospital chaplains from
Spiritual Care give patients a
blanket, with the majority
going to those who are serious-
ly ill or experiencing a crisis.
Attached to each blanket is a
card expressing the Peace
Health mission and a healing
prayer.
“We tell the patients that the
blankets are like a hug they can
take home with them,” said
staff chaplain Joani Schmidt.
“Some of our patients respond
to the blankets when they don't
respond to anything else. They
are a special touch of beauty
and care for our most physical-
ly and emotionally critical
patients.”
