Dos And Don’ts To Help You Keep On Truckin’
What To Do If You See A Suspicious
Credit Card Transaction
850 ✦ VEH. & BOAT
PROMO
Check your credit report for
any unauthorized accounts
and for the accuracy of your
personal information. If any-
thing looks funny, report it
to the credit bureaus. File
a police report if you fi nd
an account that you didn’t
open. Often, companies that
experienced data breaches
will offer free credit moni-
toring to victims. Use it.
Be Proactive
In the future, use best
practices with your credit
card. Opt for two-factor
authentication when avail-
able while shopping online
to make it more diffi cult
for scammers to take over
your accounts. Consistently
update your online pass-
words to protect your fi nan-
cial information from data
breaches. Always check the
security credentials of on-
line retailers before making
a purchase with your credit
card.
Be On The Lookout
Regularly and carefully
check your recent transac-
tion history for any fraudu-
lent charges. A fraudster
only needs your card num-
ber to make purchases, so
fraud can happen even if
your card is in your wallet.
Signing up for alerts—ei-
ther via e-mail or text mes-
sage—is another way you
and your issuer can fl ag
any odd transactions in real
time.
For more information on
credit card fraud, and other
personal fi nance advice, vis-
it www.ValuePenguin.com.
(NAPSA)—You
scan
your monthly credit card
bill, only to fi nd a suspicious
transaction. Don’t panic.
Fortunately, credit card
companies largely shoul-
der the fi nancial burden of
unauthorized credit card
charges. By law, you’re only
on the hook for $50, and it’s
unlikely you’ll even be ding-
ed for that much.
Now it’s time to take
action through these four
steps.
Let Your Issuer Know,
And Fast
If you fi nd a peculiar
transaction, call your credit
card issuer right away to re-
port it—that’s if your issuer
didn’t alert you fi rst. Your
issuer will ask you to verify
the most recent transac-
tions to make sure no other
suspicious activity was re-
corded.
Your issuer will close
your current credit card and
issue another one with a
new number within days. If
your account has any autho-
rized users on it, the issuer
may send them new cards,
too. Confi rm that the new
card is linked to the pay-
ment history of the old card
account, so they appear as
one on your credit history.
Update any recurring bills
with the new card number.
Stay Vigilant
When you place a fraud
alert on your credit report,
you’ll get a free report as
well. This doesn’t count to-
ward your annual free credit
report under federal law.

Don’t load the truck
until you know how to
drive it. Take a practice ride
fi rst. Make sure you can fi nd
and understand the use of
all the truck’s switches and
gauges. Adjust the seat and
side mirrors so they match
your height and comfort
zone.
Do be extra vigilant.
“Trucks are taller, wider and
may weigh up to 10 times
more than the average car,”
explained Don Mikes, se-
nior vice president–rental,
Penske.
Don’t neglect to get
insurance. “Most insurance
and credit card companies
won’t cover truck rentals
under existing policies,”
Mikes added. If your insur-
ance company is among
them, consider signing up
for additional coverage
options to protect yourself

knowing that his company

(NAPS)—Picture this:
You’re at the wheel of a
real truck, driving down the
highway, with everything
you own in the back.
That’s not just some
escapist fantasy. It’s a great
way to save time and mon-
ey the next time you move.
It can also be a grand ad-
venture. Take the scenic
route; fi t a little “me time”
in along the way. Become a
tourist for a few days; expe-
rience national landmarks
or visit long-lost relatives;
let your relocation be a bit
of a vacation. If you make
your move an adventure,
you can arrive at your desti-
nation more refreshed and
less stressed.
To further reduce stress,
follow these dos and don’ts:
Do plan ahead. When
planning your trip, take
into account the time of
day you intend to travel
and likely traffi c patterns.
Always leave lots of extra
time and be aware of pos-
sible bottlenecks along the
way.
Don’t pack problems.
Most truck rental agree-
ments say something like
the language from the U.S.
Department of Transporta-
tion that prohibits the “car-
rying or hauling of explo-
sives and other dangerous
articles.” That means you
can’t pack paint, chemi-
cals and cleaning materi-
als, fl ammable solvents,
propane, gasoline and the
like. Check with your rental
agent if you’re not sure
about a particular item.
Do know about the
“NO” zone. Trucks also
have big blind spots, what
the Federal Motor Carrier
Safety Administration calls
the “No-Zone.” You should
