FUUF applies ‘Reason’
The Rev. Dr. Ruth Miller
will lead a worship service at
the
Florence
Unitarian
Universalist
Fellowship
(FUUF) on Sunday, Aug. 13
from 10 till 11 a.m.
The title of her talk is
“Applying Emerson’s Reason
Today.”
“Ralph Waldo Emerson
encouraged us to rely heavily
on Reason as our guide - but
he didn’t mean analytical
logic,” said Miller. “He want-
ed the people around him to
stop following the voices of
authority and peer pressure, so
he offered an alternative.”
Miller, who has ‘translated’
a number of Emerson’s essays
for modern readers in her book
“Natural Abundance” and
written a short biography of
his life, “The Power of the
Self,” will share some of the
insights she has gained in her
study and apply them to the
situation America is in today.
The UU Fellowship is locat-
