In the opener at Cross Creek in
Dallas, Ore., Klampe shot a 40, with 1
birdie, 4 pars, 3 bogeys and 1 double
bogey.
Then, on day two at Michelbook in
McMinnville, he shot a 41, sinking 1
birdie, 2 pars, 5 bogeys and 1 double
bogey.
Klampe, the son of Ron and
Takako Klampe, is currently the
youngest member at Ocean Dunes
Golf Links.

hen Linda Stent
moved from Paris,
Texas, to Florence,
she left behind a thriving Special
Olympics bowling program with
40 participants ranging in age
from six to 21 years old and
older. In addition to a wide range
of ages, the program also includ-
ed members with an equally
diverse range in intellectual and
cognitive ability.
In fact, anyone who has been
identified by a medical profes-
sional as living with those chal-
lenges is eligible to participate
in Special Olympics.
It’s a program that Stent has
been working to establish and
expand in Florence since 2014.
“It’s a great opportunity for
them to stay active on a regular
basis,” Stent said of participants
in the program, which begins
Aug. 29.
Practices are held each
Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m. at
Holiday Bowl in Florence.

The Northwest Bronco Roundup
2017 returns to Florence Aug. 16 to
19.
This annual event features the 1966-
77 Ford Bronco Show and Shine at
Three Rivers Casino Resort on
Saturday, Aug. 19, a cruise through
Historic Old Town Florence and
adventures in the Oregon dunes.
Bronco participants also plan a
yearly canned food donation to
Florence Food Share.
Broncos will ride the dunes each
morning of the roundup, including a
Ford Broncos from 1966-77 will “round
up” in Florence Aug. 16 to 19 for an
annual gathering and to cruise in the
dunes.
