CONSTRUCTION CONTINUES
Bridge. Most work is done off
the roadway to ensure that traf-
fic moves smoothly during the
day.
This week, crews have been
working at night, but there
should not be any noise distur-
bance created from the work.
Local residents should take
note of the bridge rail cutting
the week of July 31 to Aug. 5,
which will create some noise
during the process.
• Crews continue sand blast-
ing and spraying a zinc coating
on the bridge, working toward
the south end of the bridge.
• Crews will be cutting and
removing existing bridge rail
on the northwest side of the
bridge to install the new bridge
rail.
• Rail cutting will take place
from 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. on
Monday, July 31, and Tuesday,
Aug. 1. This operation will cre-
ate some noise, but requires a
lane closure and can only be
accomplished during the night.
• Lane closures will continue
during work hours, 4 a.m. to 9
a.m.
Single lane closures will be
used for materials transfers,
bridge rail and other roadwork
on the approaches to the
bridge. Delays may be up to 20
minutes, but will normally be
M ONDAY
five minutes or less.
The Siuslaw River Bridge
Cathodic Protection Project is
repairing damaged concrete,
replacing bridge railings, and
constructing sidewalk features
at the bridge ends.
A major portion of the proj-
ect is to install cathodic protec-
tion that includes a zinc surface
coating to protect the structure
from corrosion.
Sandblasting the bridge and
spraying the zinc coating are
noisy operations that must be
done separately, in containment
structures.
