Q: Describe your organization.
A: Th e mission of Florence Food Share is to
alleviate hunger in western Lane County. We serve
close to 5,000 individuals every year, which equates
to distributing over 50,000 lbs. of food each month.
We serve the homeless, the unemployed, the under-
employed, seniors, children, the disabled and all
others that fall within 185% of the poverty line as
established by the U.S.D.A.
Q: What are your greatest accomplishments so far,
this year?
A: As of July 1, 2016, our
supervising agency mandated
that we implement a second food
program, the “Rural Delivery
Program”.
Th is eff ectively
doubled our clientele overnight.
Although extremely cramped, we
successfully run both programs
out of our small facility.
We have now received over half
the funding needed for a pantry
expansion and expect to break
ground in August, 2017, so that
we can more effi ciently run these
two separate food programs.
