our sister planet. But
unlike Earth, the
surface of Venus is
hidden beneath hot,
poisonous clouds
making it very hard
for scientists to study
the planet.

How Venus Got Its Name
The planet Venus shines the brightest of the planets and often can
be seen from Earth at sunrise and sunset. Ancient Romans named
the planet Venus after their goddess of love and beauty.
