Summer reading and craft programs begin at Library
“Build a Better World” is the
theme of Siuslaw Public
Library’s Summer Reading
Program, which began June 1.
Patrons of all ages are invited
to try something new this sum-
mer — at home, in the commu-
nity, throughout the country,
and around the globe.
Read a new book, try a new
craft, meet new people and
learn about new places. Patrons
can do all of these at the library
this summer.
First of the scheduled Adult
Summer Reading Program
events
is
the
annual
Endowment Book presentation
on June 9, at 1 p.m., at the main
branch of the library in the
Bromley Room.
This hour-long program
begins with an introduction by ,
Adult Services Librarian Kevin
Mittge, followed by an oppor-
tunity to browse the new addi-
tions to the library’s collection.
Next, on June 17, try your
hand at a new craft. Rosie Hill,
expert “Tangler,” will conduct
a 90-minute Zentangle session
beginning at 1 p.m. in the
Bromley Room.
Hill said what she loves
about Zentangle is “how it is
ities.
This introductory class will
provide background informa-
tion on the Zentangle phenom-
enon. Workshops “What I love
about Several Tangles,” will be
taught, and at least one
Zentangle will be completed in
class.
Supplies necessary to com-
plete a Zentangle will be pro-
vided. Registration is required
as the class is limited to 25 peo-
ple. Interested tanglers can reg-
ister at the reference desk at the
main library in Florence.
Both events are free and
open to the public, although the
Zentangle session is limited to
a certain number of partici-
