SIUSLAW NEWS ❚ SATURDAY, JUNE 3, 2017
… is a free summer program sponsored by the
Siuslaw Public Library District and the Ore-
gon Library Association to encourage reading
for pleasure during the summer. Research
shows that youngsters who read over the
summer – even one book- are better prepared
to succeed in school in the fall. Our goal is
to help make reading a habit and to stop the
“summer slide”
We will encourage reading with a variety of
games and activities that can be played si-
multaneously by readers of all ages and abili-
ties. Participate in any way you chose between
June 1st– August 3rd.
• Help us Build a Better World. Return the
paper brick from your packet with a list of
what you have done to improve the world
around you. Come back and see all the good
we do as a community. Get another brick if
you desire.
• Pledge to become a World Class Builder
and track the days you read at least 20
minutes in your Master Plan booklet. Stop
by the library and collect a prize from the
prize bin for any week you read at least 4
days.
• Builders can earn an additional prize by
completing 8 of the 10 activities listed in
their Master Plan Booklets.
• Build a Little Fun Thursdays are library
programs featuring presenters, games,
stories, and crafts. Join us on Thursdays
at 10:30 in Florence beginning June 22nd.
There are activities for kids of all ages!
• Family Movie Nights are Thursdays at
6:00 PM in the Bromley Room. Popcorn is
provided and viewers of all ages are invited
to come. See your booklet for movie list-
ings.
• Lego Club Fridays continue on the 1st
and 3rd Fridays of the month. Come build
with us!
• Celebrate our success at the Grand Finale
Waterslide/picnic/book-give-away spon-
sored in part by the Friends of the Siuslaw
Public Library. Come Wednesday August
2nd in Mapleton or Thursday August 3rd
in Florence.
