St. in Florence.

to reflect on and experience
peace both individually and
collectively.

Program Drummers and
Dancers
with
Lynn
Anderson.
MaryBeth Nickel, story-
teller, harpist and flautist,

and the healing process
with percussionists Rodney
Turner, Jim Harder and oth-
ers.

Painting by Susan Peavey.

the whole afternoon.
The Baha’i community of
Florence is sponsoring this
event.
There is no charge and
everyone is welcome.
On Sunday, May 21, from
10 to 11 a.m. at the Florence
Unitarian Universalist
Fellowship, Rev. Dr. Marcia
Pierce will lead the worship
service
titled
“Our
Marvelous Minds: Thought
as Energy and Its Part in the
Healing Process.”
For many years science
and religion have been
slowly moving closer
together. There is a strong
connection between the
spiritual and religious world
and there is also a great deal
of logic in what’s now
called
‘New
Thought
Teachings.’
Pearce will talk about the
amazing expansiveness of
the power of mind, and how
we might use it more to
bless and uplift our world.
The UU Fellowship,
located at 87738 Highway
101 at Heceta Beach Road,
is wheelchair accessible.
Each service concludes
with refreshments and a dia-
logue circle to explore the
questions that come up dur-
ing each service.
Every Sunday evening at
5:30 p.m, Jim Tubesing
leads Peaceful Meditations
at the Fellowship Hall.

Bahai’ to examine the
concept of susceptibility
On Monday, May 22, at
6:30 p.m., at 875 Seventh St.,
everyone is invited to join a
group from varied spiritual
paths to discuss susceptibility.
The Baha’i Writings say:
“Sterile soil will produce noth-
ing, even if the cloud of mercy
pours rain upon it a thousand
years. We must make the soil
of our hearts receptive and fer-
tile by tilling in order that the
rain of divine mercy may
refresh them and bring forth
roses and hyacinths of heaven-
ly planting.
“We must have perceiving
eyes in order to see the light of
541-999-5083
the sun.”
Therefore, we must ever
strive for capacity and seek
readiness. As long as we lack
susceptibility, the beauties and
bounties of God cannot pene-
trate.
The public is invited to
bring stories about personal
efforts to be spirituality atten-
tive. The gathering will end at
8 p.m. with prayers for the
requests left in the Prayer Pole
in the garden of the Florence
Playhouse, and those shared
by the group at the service.
