Florence Habitat finishes latest home
Florence Habitat for
Humanity’s most recently
constructed home is com-
plete.
On May 27, at 2:30 p.m.,
the Fuller family, Amber
and Nathan and their four
children, Destini,
Alexandra, Leland and
Joycelynn, become official
home owners following a
special dedication ceremo-
ny.
The public is invited to
celebrate with the Fullers
and the Habitat for
Humanity volunteers who
assisted with this project
on this special occasion.
Through total commit-
ment and hard work this
family has met all of
Habitat for Humanity
requirements and earned
the zero-interest 30 year
mortgage that secures the
purchase of their new
home.

Oregon Alzheimer’s
to offer classes at library
The Alzheimer’s Associa-
tion Oregon Chapter will be
holding an education class,
“Dementia Conversations,”
from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Monday
June 5, at the Siuslaw Public
Library in the Bromley Room.
The library is located at
1460 Ninth St.
This class is designed to
help attendees discuss with
family challenging and often
uncomfortable topics that sur-
round Alzheimer’s and demen-
tia.
Join
the
Alzheimer's
Association Oregon Chapter
and learn some tips for break-
ing the ice with family about
this often misunderstood con-
dition.
This class will help partici-
pants to address some of the
most common issues of this
illness.
These will include; going to
the doctor for a diagnosis or
medical treatment, deciding
when to stop driving, and
making legal and financial
plans for future care.
This class is free, but regis-
tration is required.

Friends of Florence seeks
volunteer van driv ers
The Friends of Florence, a
501(c)3 nonprofit organiza-
tion, is in need of volunteer
drivers.
The only requirement is a
clean driving record and
under the age of 80.
Friends of Florence driv-
ers provide free transporta-
tion,
Monday
through
Friday, for cancer patients
seeking treatment in the val-
ley.
Drivers transport patients
needing radiation treatment
at the Williamette Valley
Cancer Institute in Eugene or
the Oregon Urology Center
in Springfield.
Drivers
leave
Peace
Harbor Hospital at 8 a.m. and
are usually back in Florence
between noon and 1 p.m.
There is no charge for this
service. Drivers usually only
drive one day each month.
