OSP announce online auction for eclipse campsites Oregon Dunes Triathlon
seeks volunteers
The Oregon State Parks
Foundation has announced that
it will hosting an online silent
auction of 30 Campsites at the
Crooked River Campground in
the Cove Palisades State Park
in Central Oregon.
This location is within the
path of Totality for the Eclipse,
and slightly south of the
expected central line. Bids will
be for four night campground
spaces from 4 p.m. on Friday,
Aug. 18, through 1 p.m.,
Tuesday, Aug. 22.
The auction will be held in
five sections, with six spots
available in each section. Each
section will close at a different
time.
• The first will close on
Monday, May 15, at 8 p.m.
PDT;
• The second will close on
Tuesday, May 16, at 8 p.m.
PDT;
• The third will close on
Thursday, May 18, at 8 p.m.
PDT;
• The fourth will close on
Friday, May 19, at 8 p.m. PDT;
• The fifth will close on
Monday, May 22, at 8 p.m.
PDT.
Six Campsites will be in
each closing section. The win-
ners will be notified each night.
If you did not receive a noti-
fication that you won, you may
want to bid on sites in the next
sections.
Vehicles at these campsites
are limited to what can fit with-
in the 48-foot paved area, and
are RV accessible (power
water hook-up available). The
available sites can be seen

Online bidding will begin at
5 p.m. on Friday, May 12.
In order to bid, you must be
a member of the Foundation.
You can become a member
with a donation of $25 or more.

Members will be emailed a link
to bid on May 12.
This is a fund raising event
for the Oregon State Parks
Foundation, which is the only
state-wide nonprofit partner of
the Oregon Parks Recreation
Department.
Winning bids will be consid-
ered donations to the founda-
tion, which allows the founda-
tion to work on projects that

preserve protect the parks, and
enhance the experience of
using the parks.
This includes supporting ini-
tiatives such as the Ticket2Ride
program, which funds travel
expenses for K-8 students in
Title One schools to go to the
Parks, our Bike Pod program,
and the Cottonwood Crossing
Summer Institute.

Dunes City is ramping up
preparations for its fifth annu-
al Oregon Dunes Triathlon and
Duathlon on Saturday, May
13.
With the event just days
away, Dunes City is looking
for volunteers to help on the
race courses.
It’s not too late to sign up.
Call Dunes City Hall at 541-
997-3338 to volunteer. Most
work only half a day between
about 6 a.m. and 1 p.m. and all
volunteers will receive a free
souvenir T-shirt.
Dunes City will host volun-
teer orientation meetings at
City Hall on Tuesday, May 9,
and Wednesday, May 10, from
4:30 to 5:30 p.m., and from
5:30 to 6:30 p.m. on both days.
Volunteers are encouraged
to attend the orientation meet-
ings. Whether you’re a new
volunteer this year or a return-
ing volunteer, orientation
meetings are an excellent
source of information about
the Tri/Du.
Volunteers help ensure that
the races run smoothly and
safely. And, volunteers play a
vital support role for all of the
participating athletes by pro-
viding lots of encouragement
and Dunes City hospitality.
Many athletes have returned
to the Tri/Du each year
because they appreciate its
enthusiastic volunteers.
