B A R R E T T- B R U C E —
Terry Jean (Pinto) Barrett-
Bruce, 58, formerly of
Florence,
passed away
April
7,
2017, at her
home
in
Eugene, of
natural caus-
es.
She was
Terry Barrett- born Sept. 9,
1958,
in
Bruce
T o k y o ,
Japan, to Rocky and Linda
Pinto. She became a U.S. citi-
zen in July of 1965.
Terry spent the majority of
her life in Florence, graduating
from Siuslaw High School in
1976. Her greatest loves were
her grandchildren and her pets.
She loved to cause mischief
with her grandkids.
She also enjoyed traveling,
the Oregon Ducks and RV
camping along the Oregon
Coast.
Terry is survived by her two
daughters: Melissa (Justin)
Braun of Olympia, Wash., and
Kelli (Jim) Warick of Yelm,
Wash.; her grandchildren:
Bjorn, Brilee, Barrett and
Clara; and her long-time love,
Roger Bruce of Florence.
Terry was preceded in death
by her parents, Rocky and
Linda; and her brother, Stephen
Pinto.
A private family service will
be held. Terry will be greatly
missed by those who knew and
loved her.
YARROW—Howard
I.
Yarrow, born April 8, 1937, to
Irvin C. and
I r e n e
Yarrow.
Howard
joined the
Navy when
he was 17
years old
and
later
met
and
Howard
married his
Yarrow
wife, Jean.
They were married 60 years.
Howard retired from Castaic
Correction
Facility
in
California and moved with
Jean to Florence, where they
both enjoyed fishing,boating,
camping and singing praise
songs with their many friends.
Howard was preceded in
death by his son, John Yarrow.
Howard leaves behind his
loving wife, Jean Yarrow; a
son, James Yarrow; daughters
Cynthia Yarrow and Susan
Yarrow Jensen; nine grandchil-
dren and seven great-grand-
children.
Howard will be missed
Rest is peace.
Services will be held at
Burns’s Riverside Chapel
Florence Funeral Home on
May 12, beginning at 2 p.m.
HALL—

Caroline
Hall,
82,
was
born
June
17,
1934,
in
Santa Maria,
Calif.,
to
William and
Mary Hall
M a r y
(Campbell) Fickle.
Caroline became a Christian
at an early age and never
looked back. She attended col-
leges at Goleta and Northridge
and graduated with a bache-
lor’s degree in Mathematics
and Statistics in 1966. At that
time she started her profession-
al career as a statistician at the
U.S. Navy base at Point Mugu,
Calif., and worked her way up
to an Electronics Engineer.
Caroline drove a Sunbeam
Tiger everywhere she went. As
a side interest, she established a
costume business in 1963
which thrived until her retire-
ment when she sold the build-
ing.
Caroline and Michael met at
work in 1967 and were married
March 23, 1968. They retired
in 1989 and moved to Florence,
where she demonstrated her
skill at homemaking and gar-
dening.
Caroline loved traveling,
shopping, reading, shopping,
working on her genealogy and
shopping. In her spare time,
she also worked on millinery,
flower arranging, playing her
harp and making fascinators.
Caroline’s final graduation
was April 21, 2017.
She is survived by her hus-
band, Michael; two daughters,
four grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren.

LCC appoints Muenzer
to fill board vacancy
The Lane Community
College Board of Education
appointed Melanie Muenzer to
fill the Zone 1 vacancy at its
April 12 meeting.
Muenzer will complete the
term which expires June 30,
2017. She is running for elec-
tion to that seat in the May 16
special election.
Muenzer lives in West
Eugene.
She is associate vice presi-
dent for academic administra-
tion and chief of staff to the
provost at the University
of Oregon.
In prior experience she
served for seven years at the
U.S. Department of Education
as an appointee of President
Obama.
The Zone 1 seat was vacat-
ed last month when former
board member Sharon Stiles
announced that she was mov-
ing out of district.
Zone 1 represents western
Lane County including Flor-
ence, Veneta and West Eugene.
