BENEFIT P REGNANCY C ENTER
The Caring Pregnancy Center of
Florence is inviting the community to
attend its annual pancake breakfast
fundraiser from 8:30 to 11 a.m., at the
Florence Senior Center, 1570
Kingwood St.
In addition to breakfast, this year’s
event will also feature entertainment by
local guitarist Denny Weaver and a
silent auction, with items up for bid that
include a wide array of gift certificates
for area restaurants and businesses —
and a B&B getaway package in Sisters,
Ore.
Florence Caregiving Community will
have its next monthly meeting in the
activity room of the Shorewood, 1451
Spruce St.
The meeting will start at 5:30 p.m.
and run for an hour or so. The group is
starting an organization where care-
givers can seek support and get ques-
tions answered.
Caregivers and their clients are wel-
come to come and share experiences,
network or just get to know each other.
Pizza and drinks will be available.

showing of the free documentary

Bromley Room in the Siuslaw Public
Library.

CAKE BREAKFAST
The Mapleton Lions Club will host its
monthly pancake breakfast from 7:30 to
10:30 a.m., at the Mapleton Lions Club,
88148 Riverview Dr., in Mapleton.
Menu will include pancakes, sausage,
ham aNd eggs.
Cost is $7 for adults and $3 for chil-
dren (ages 12 and under)
The Us TOO Florence Prostate
Cancer Education/Support Group will
meet at the Presbyterian Church of the
Siuslaw from 5 to 7 p.m. With the pres-
ence of urologist Dr. Bryan Mehlhaff
and prostate cancer survivors with their
spouses and loved ones, this Us TOO
Florence meeting is an excellent source
of prostate cancer information.
Pick up a free Us TOO “Hotsheet,”
wich contains eight pages of the latest
prostate cancer research.

answers, or just come to listen and
learn.

Florence Garden Club will host Mike
Bones of Bones Nursery. Bones’ pas-
sion for growing things, especially
rhodies, is contagious and his knowl-
edge is vast.
Bring gardening questions and take
notes. Also, raffle tickets will be on sale
for FGC’s big Plant Sale and
Marketplace coming in May.
The public is welcome to the meeting,
which will take place at 1 p.m., at the
Presbyterian Church, 3996 Highway
101.
The meeting is free and open to the
public.

M ASTER R ECYCLERS MEETING
The Florence Master Recyclers will
meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Port of Siuslaw
Conference Room, 100 Harbor St., next
to the campground. The agenda will
include the plans for the Green Fair
information booth; a potluck and guest
speaker for May 11; moving the
Dishware inventory; and a short video
on recycling.

The Coastal Women Veterans will
have its monthly luncheon beginning at
11:30 a.m. at Rosa’s Mexican
Restaurant, 2825 Highway 101 in
Florence.

H ABITAT ART CONTEST
Habitat for Humanity Restore of
Florence is sponsoring a Recycled Art
Contest. The recycled art entries must
be received before April 17.
Prizes for the contest will be given
out at THE Earth Day event on April
22.
Art must be constructed from a mini-
mum of 80 percent recycled material
and will be displayed in the Restore.

meets Tuesday, May 16, at 6.30 p.m. for

gram on Rhododendron Culture and
Care, with pictures of rhododendrons
that thrive in the area, how they grow,
different blooming times, growth habits,
different colors and foliage.
