lorence Fest ‘17, held last weekend at the Florence
Events Center, was a success on a number of lev-
els, according to event coordinator Jon Thompson.
“There were approximately 700 tickets sold for the fes-
tival. Over the two days, 15 pieces of art were sold for
more than $15,000,” he said. Florence Regional Arts
Alliance held a juried art show during the event, fea-
turing 47 pieces of hand-selected art. Performers
included The Michael Anderson Jazz Trio, Michelle
and Dav Van Handel, Tony Glausi and his Nine-Piece
Funk Band, Paul Biondi and the Gus Russell Quartet,
Miles to Go Quartet featuring Maree Beers, Dan
Latarski and D’Trio and the Halie Loren Quintet. “We
are evaluating the event in the coming weeks but the
feedback has been so overwhelmingly positive that I
don't know how we could not do the event again next
year,” Thompson said.
