OPB to display Stained Glass gift
Tom and Donna Bogglano
Chmelicek have been long
time Florence residents and
Oregon Pacific Bank clients.
Donna recently visited the
bank to present Vice President
and Branch Manager Lori
Gates with an unexpected gift:
a hand crafted stained glass
work of art depicting a lone
cypres, created by Donna’s late
husband Tom, who passed

for discussion,
auction
Siuslaw chapter of the
American
Rhododendron
Society will meet Tuesday,
April 18.
Refreshments will be
served at 5.30 p.m.
At 6 p.m., a 10-minute talk
will be given by club presi-
dent Mike Bones on “How to
Do
Flower
Show
Preparation.”
This will be followed by
an auction of many different
types of plants, including
rhododendrons and azaleas.
The Early Rhododendron
Flower Show and plant sale
is schedueld for Saturday and
Sunday, April 22 and 23, at
the Florence Events Center.

Gates began her carreer at
Oregon Pacific Bank as a teller
in May of 1980.
Since then, she has held var-
ious positions within the bank.
Gates is also on the Board of
Siusalw Outeach Services and
Vice President of Siusalw
Valley Fire and Rescue Board
of Directors.
The stained glass piece cre-
ated by Tom Chmelicek hangs
in Gates’ office.
The community is invited to
stop by Oregon Pacific bank at
1355 Highway 101 to view it at
any time.

The stained glass gift was a
token of gratitude from the
Chemeliceks in appreciation to
Gates.
“Tom was a sweet and car-
ing soul, a man that would help
anyone,” said Donna. “And
what Tom saw in Lori was the
same thing. Lori puts so much
into the community.
“Tom wanted to show her
how highly we think of her, so
he started working on this
piecewith the Oregon Pacific
tree in it for Lori.”
Tom did not live long
enough to complete the stained
glass but James Hunt was com-
missioned to to finish it.
