Revolution — New Art for a
New World is a bold and excit-
ing feature documentary that
encapsulates a momentous
period in the history of Russia
and the Russian Avant Garde.
Drawing on the collections
of major Russian institutions,
contributions from contempo-
rary artists, curators, perform-
ers and personal testimony
from the descendants of those
involved, the film brings the
artists of the Russian Avant-
Garde to life.
It tells the stories of artists
like Chagall, Kandinsky,
Malevich and others — pio-
neers who flourished in
response to the Utopian chal-
lenge of building a New Art for
a New World, only to be bro-
ken by implacable authority
after 15 short years.
After the show, join FRAA’s
Harlen Springer as he takes the
audience through his recent
journey to Russia, showing
public art from the country and
speaking about the influence of
art on the culture. Harlen will
also present exhibits and a
plethora of public art projects
from around the world that will
both fascinate and inspire.
Finally, Harlen will offer a
look at the future of art with
proposals of spectacular public
art right here in Florence.
Tickets for Revolution —
Art for a New World are avail-
able at City Lights Cinemas or
online at citylightscinemas

Tickets are $9 for adults, $8
for seniors and students, and $7
