improve homes in the neigh-
borhood and assist deserving
families in realizing their
dreams of home ownership.
“This work could not be
accomplished without the gen-
erous support of donors such as
the Central Oregon Coast
Board of Realtors as well as
other organizations and indi-
viduals in the community.”
The HOME Foundation is
funded by individual donations
from Oregon Realtors members
statewide, as well as through
annual flagship events such as
the “Driving It HOME” golf
tournament in July and “The
Taste
of
Portland”
in
September.

Central Oregon Coast Board
of Realtors (COCBR) current
and past Presidents Steve
Earnshaw, Desiree Clifton and
Rob Shepherd, recently pre-
sented the 2017 HOME
Foundation grant to the
Florence Habitat for Humanity.
This $5,000 grant will be
used in the revitalization of a
neighborhood home recently
acquired by Florence Habitat.
When completed, the home
will be offered to a low-income
family, senior, disabled or vet-
eran in the Florence area. This
is the third year Florence
Habitat has been awarded a
HOME Foundation grant.
“It has been very rewarding
to have the support of the
COCBR and the HOME
Foundation for Habitat for
Humanity’s affordable housing
mission in Florence,” said Kate
McBroom-Redwine, Habitat’s
executive director. “Local real-
tors not only understand the
need for family housing, but
are wonderful advocates for the
positive impact on the commu-
nity that stable, safe and decent
housing creates.
“We applaud the COCBR for
its interest in and willingness to
act in our plan to revitalize a
deteriorating neighborhood.”
The neighborhood, Keener
Place, is located on Nopal
Street. Alan Bourne, Habitat’s
Neighborhood Revitalization
Manager, said “This donation
will permit Florence Habitat
for Humanity to revitalize and
local communities, such as the
Rogue Valley Association of
Realtors’ “Food and Wine
Classic” every March, raise
money that stays in their local
areas.
