IHOLTS—Ruth
Iholts,
longtime Mapleton resident,
passed away

Beaverton,
Ore., at the
age of 96.
She was
born
In
Miles City,
Mont., on
Feb.
13,
Ruth Iholts
1920.
She and her husband Fred
moved to Mapleton in 1964.
Fred worked at U.S. Plywood,
from which he retired, and
passed away in 1983.
Ruth worked at Siuslaw
Bank in Mapleton for 17 years
and retired in 1985. She moved
to Beaverton in 2011.
She is survived by her four
children and their families: Ed
Iholts, Beverly Thornburg and
Duane Iholts of Beaverton, and
Lonnie Iholts of Florence; as
well as numerous grandchil-
dren and great grandchildren.
No funeral service is
planned.
Private burial is planned to
lay her to rest beside her hus-
band, Fred, in Eugene, Or.
Arrangements are being held
through Burns’s Riverside
Chapel Florence Funeral
Home.
FUNKE—Laura
Lee
(Gilbert) Funke, 85, passed
away Jan.
21, 2017.

Ore.
She was
Laura Funke the
only
child
of
Lewis and Virginia (Curl)
Gilbert. She spent her childhood
years growing up in Waldport,
Ore., exploring the town, the
Oregon coast and spending
time in the family store.
Her parents owned and oper-
ated Waldport Drug, where her
father was a pharmacist and her
mother helped run the store.
The store included an old-time
soda fountain where Laura
loved to spend time and greet
customers.
Laura loved to tell stories
from her childhood, often men-
tioning how the local grey-
hound bus driver taught her to
drive, and many other stories.
She was an avid reader growing
up and continued reading
throughout her life. She loved
animals and had many pets. In
her youth she had a parrot “Pat”
that was given to her by a sailor
in Waldport.
She excelled in school, grad-
uating from Waldport High
School at the age of 16 as class
Valedictorian.
After high school, she
attended Oregon State College
(Oregon State University),
where she met and married
Raymond Albert Funke. They
moved to the Funke family
farm in Florence and raised
their four children: Jenny
Masengil, Laurie Willis, Julie
Dewsnup and Andrew Funke.
In 1968, they moved to
Pleasant Hill, Ore., where they
lived until retiring. While liv-
ing in Pleasant Hill, Laura had
several careers including Real
Estate broker, insurance agent,
and her favorite as a volunteer
Fireman/EMT for the Pleasant
Hill Fire Department.
Laura is survived by her hus-
band and four children, as well
as eight grandchildren and
three great-grandchildren.
Her family and friends will
miss her stories, her spunk for
life and her love.
In lieu of flowers, donations
may be made to your local
humane society.
A graveside gathering will be
held today, Jan. 25, beginning
at 2 p.m., at Pacific Sunset
Cemetery in Florence.
CAMPBELL —Alex
Campbell, 90, of Henderson,
Nev., formerly of Florence,
passed away Jan. 23, 2017, at
home due to age-related causes.
Services are pending.

Troy Ken Kronquest pleaded
guilty to theft. He was sen-
tenced to two days in Florence
City Jail. He must pay $525 in
fines and not contact or be in or

employment of the victim.

Sheaidra Renee Buckles
pleaded guilty to theft and
criminal trespass. She was sen-
tenced to four days in Florence
City Jail. She must pay $517 in
fines and not contact or be in or
about the premises or place of
employment of the victim.
Chelsea Marie Kelley plead-
ed guilty to criminal trespass
and criminal mischief. She was
sentenced to two days in
Florence City Jail. She must
pay $425 in fines and not con-
tact or be in or about the prem-
ises or place of employment of
the victim.
Joshua Michael Brown
pleaded guilty to two counts of
disorderly conduct, attempted
possession of methampheta-
mine and attempted criminal
mischief. He was sentenced to
45 days in Florence City Jail
and must report to Emergence
Addiction and Mental Health
Services. He must pay $2,150
in fines and not contact or be in
or about the residence, premis-
es or places of employment of
the victims or co-defendant.
Christian Elizabeth Cropper
pleaded no contest to disorder-
ly conduct. She must pay $275
in fines and not contact or be in
or about the residence or place
of employment of the victim or
co-defendant.

Taylor Miles Balko pleaded
guilty to criminal mischief. He
must pay $275 in fines and not

Zachary Ian Longfield

Florence City Jail and must
report to Emergence Addiction
and Mental Health Services.
He must pay $525 in fines and

Shannon Jeanette Eivers
pleaded guilty to initiating a
false report. She was sentenced
to two days in Florence City
Jail. She must pay $700 in fines
