Anger Management for Women, Meets weekly
Bruins countered with a pair of
freethrows to move ahead 32-31.
With both teams in the foul
bonus, the final seconds went on
for another three minutes as play-
ers rotated through the charity
line, where the Bruins sank the
front end of a 1-and-1 to move
ahead 37-36 with 2 seconds on
the clock.
The second attempt bounced
around the rim and off, with sen-
ior guard Brogan Cornish nab-
bing the rebound and getting
fouled with less than a second to
go.
From the freethrow line,
Cornish sank his first shot, tying
the game at 37-37, but missed the
second attempt.
The Bruins recovered the ball
as the buzzer went off, sending
the game into overtime.
“We talked about playing
every league game like it’s our
biggest game of the year,” said
Perry. “And our young men com-
peted like it.”
Reavis won the second tipoff,
with both teams going scoreless
for the first two minutes until a
freethrow from Reavis put
Siuslaw up by 1 point.
Brandt added two more
freethrows with 1:55 left for a 3-
point lead. Brookings scored on
the return, cutting the Viks’ lead
to 1 point.
Two key plays from King
proved to be the turning point,
beginning with a freethrow that
put Siuslaw back ahead by 2, then
grabbing a steal on the return
with 34 seconds remaining.
Moving into a delay offense,
Siuslaw drained 15 seconds from
the clock before Brandt was
fouled and went to the line, where
he made it a 3-point advantage,
42-39, with a crucial charity shot.
With seven seconds left,
Siuslaw clamped down on
defense, working its 2-3 zone and
pressuring the perimeter.
The Bruins were able to take a
last shot from the outside in
hopes of tying the game with a 3-
available from the bench. “I’m
really proud of these girls for
going out there and competing
every single game.”
For the boys, Friday’s game
with the Mountaineers was a near
blowout for the Sailors, who
outscored Falls City 30-9 in the
first half.
Sophomore Gabe Simington
led scoring with 14 points, 5
rebounds and a block despite
playing just one half due to foul
trouble.
Senior wing Hunter Simington
had 11 points, 8 rebounds, 3
assists and 3 steals in the 41-29
win.
Junior post Dominic Wells had
9 points, 11 rebounds and 6
blocked shots.
“It was good to pick up a win
at home,” said Sailor boys coach
Will Crook.
Thursday, the Sailors will be
on the road at Siletz Valley.
Girls tip off at 5:30 p.m., fol-
lowed by the boys at 7 p.m.
caught the past few weeks in
the West Fork Millicoma,
East Fork Millicoma, and
South Fork Coos rivers.
The West Fork Millicoma
was the only river in the basin
that was fishable over the past
weekend.
Anglers are drifting eggs or
corkies along the stream bot-
tom or using a jig suspended
under a bobber. Anglers fish-
ing the South Fork Coos River
above Dellwood will need a
permit from Weyerhaeuser,
which they can pick up at the
Dellwood office.
In the Coos Basin 1 addi-
tional hatchery steelhead may
be retained per day for a total
aggregate of 3 adult fish har-
vested daily.
Anglers have been catching
a few rockfish and surfperch
along the jetties and sub-
merged rock piles. Fishing for
rockfish in the bay has been
spotty. The marine fish daily
bag limit for bottom fish
(rockfish) is 7 fish and a sepa-
rate daily limit for lingcod (2).
The 7 fish marine bag limit
will remain in place, with
these adjustments for 2017:
Create a sub-bag limit of 6
black rockfish, remove the
sub-bag limit for canary rock-
fish, add China/quillback/cop-
per rockfishes to the sub-bag
limit with blue/Deacon rock-
fish and change the limit from
3 to 4.
Finally remove the 10-inch
minimum size for kelp green-
ling.
Retention of cabezon is not
allowed until July 1.
