While temperatures were dropping
along the coast, Viking basketball was
heating up at home and in Waldport as
Siuslaw defeated the Irish on both
fronts.
At home, the Lady Vikings had dou-
ble-figure scoring from seniors
Brittany Long and Destinie Tatum, who
had a near triple-double against
Waldport, scoring 16 points to go along
with 9 rebounds and 6 steals.
Long had 12 points and 5 steals.
Senior point guard Abby Watkins had a
season-high 9 points and 5 steals.
All told, the Viks forced 29 steals
V IKS
and 33 rebounds on the way to a 56-31
win.
Meanwhile, at Waldport, the Viking
boys defeated the Irish 52-38.
This weekend, both teams will com-
pete at the Sky-Em/Far West Crossover
tournament.
Tuesday, Siuslaw will wrap up the
preseason at Junction City.
