FRAA to present 15th annual Artisan Fair

he 15th annual Winter Music
Artisan Fair will be a two-day
event, Saturday, Jan. 14, from 10
a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, Jan. 15, from
10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
This is a must-see event for the weekend
and admission to the Artisan Fair is free.
This year, the Florence Regional Arts
Alliance (FRAA) will be the event com-
mittee for the Artisan Fair.
There will be artisans, both local and
regional, who will come and demonstrate
their creative talents and bring their latest
creations. Artisans will vary from wood
craft to herbs; knit, crochet and fiber cre-
ations to ward off the winter’s chill; art-
work to stir the imagination and tastings to
warm the heart.
Among the artisans attending this year’s
festival will be:
• Nathalie Picard, member of the turtle
clan of the Huron-Wendat tribe in
Wendake, Quebec, Canada, creates artisan
fine silver jewelry inspired by Iroquoian
and Native American Indian culture, and
Nature.
Graduated flautist from Quebec City
Music Conservatory, and the University of
Montreal ( BACC in Jazz and pop music
interpretation), she also studied jazz and
Cuban music in Havana and Florida.
Nathalie moved to the Oregon coast in
2012 and was selected in the
Smithsonian’s National Museum of the
American Indian (NMAI) Artist
Leadership Program in 2014.

• Merritt Lavender Farm’s Sherri’
(shuh-REE) Merritt discovered another
way to live upon moving to Bandon. After
working in the corporate world and as a
small business owner, she became known
locally as “the lavender lady” after starting
a lavender farm.
As an organic grower, she manufactur-
ers a line of natural lavender products and
has authored three books in lavender.
Merritt Lavender Farm is located six

• Foggy Bay Studios is a husband and
wife business. Brad works in wood, using
beautiful grained Oregon woods to create
kitchen utensils, serving boards and hair
buckles. Ginny is a fiber artist currently
specializing in hand felting scarves, hand
bags, hats and other items.
• Local artist Barbara Campbell, who
has explored stained glass art creations
using glass, agates and jewels in free-form
creations of her own design as well as fol-
lowing classical designs.
She has created free-standing and hang-
ing pieces as well as branching out to cre-
ate stained glass inserts for cupboard doors
and lantern panels.
