The Soroptimist International Club of
Florence extends a huge Thank You to the
wonderful groups and individuals for making
the Community Christmas Food Boxes and
Toys a happy and successful event for
folks here in Florence and Mapleton. This
is one of the projects that the Soroptimist
Club of Florence develops, organizes, and
contributes resources. But without the
support of the many, many folks and clubs
in Florence and Mapleton, this event would
not happen.
This was a rain or shine event and we
were blessed with sunshine, cold breezes a
little ice but no rain.
So, special Thanks to the Siuslaw Middle
School, The Church of the Nazarene, the
Florence Rotary Club, the Kiwanis Club,
Three Rivers Casino Resort, Siuslaw Valley
Fire Department, Camp Florence, Marine
Corps, Rhody Cruisers, Michael Pearson,
Steve Smoley, Heceta Self Storage,
Grocery Outlet, Safeway, Fred Meyer, the
Florence Realtors Group, Siuslaw High
School Key Club and Advisor: Gina Castro-
Brandt, Siuslaw High School Leadership
Club and advisor, Erin Ellis, and Siuslaw
High School Interact Club and advisor, Lis
Farm. Roger McCorkle made the deliveries
to those shut-in, Ron Caputo and Lisa
Walter-Sedlacek were great organizers in
the food set up and overseeing some of the
food purchases. Thank you to our shopping
elves. There were other folks who showed
up to do whatever was needed and left
without leaving a name…so thank you to
those folks. You know who you are and we
appreciate you and everyone who came.
