With a franchise as big as “Star Wars,” there are bound to be rumors Take a look at the
best and wackiest fan theories about what we’ll see in the new movie
We can’t confirm or deny the truth
of any of these rumors. Stretch out
with your feelings and see if the
Force guides you in the right direc-
tion.
Jyn Erso is Rey’s mom
Both have dark hair, British accents
and no-nonsense attitudes, so per-
haps there’s some truth to the rumor
that the lead characters of “Rogue
One” and “The Force Awakens” are
related. On the other hand, the two
films are set approximately 30 years
apart, and we know that Rey is 19
years old when “The Force Awakens”
takes place. While Disney hasn’t
released an official age for Jyn Erso,
actress Felicity Jones is 32, so the tim-
ing might not work out for this theo-
ry.

Max Von Sydow are connected
While he’s glimpsed in the latest
trailer as young Jyn Erso’s father, we
actually don’t know very much about
Mads Mikkelsen’s character Galen.
That hasn’t stopped some fans from
speculating that the same character
shows up – in older form – as Lor San
Tekka, the world-weary traveler who
sets the plot of “The Force Awakens”
in motion by handing over a map to
the last known location of Jedi master
Luke Skywalker.
The “Rogue One” crew are all
going to die
“Rogue One” is a war film, and
very rarely do characters get to walk
away from those. Since none of the
heroes of “Rogue One” appear or are
ever mentioned in other Star Wars
stories, some fans are speculating that
they don’t survive their adventure. On
the other hand, the rogues might just
be planning to retire to a tropical
planet after pulling off their big heist.
Supreme Leader Snoke will
appear in the movie
In last April’s teaser, fans caught a
glimpse of a hooded figure in black
kneeling before what looks like a
Bacta tank (a piece of Star Wars tech-
nology used to heal severe injuries).
While Darth Vader is set to appear in
the film, the powerful dark lord
kneels to only one man: the Galactic
Emperor. However, actor Ian
McDiarmid confirmed that he doesn’t
appear in the film. That leaves some
fans wondering if the tank holds the
mangled body of another Force user
strong in the dark side: Supreme
Leader Snoke, the deeply scarred
leader of Kylo Ren and the First
Order in “The Force Awakens.”
