OBITUARIES
DONICA—Kurtis
Dane
Donica, born July 3, 1961, died
Nov.
28,
2016, of nat-
ural causes.
He gradu-
ated in 1966
f r o m
Mapleton
High School,
where
he
Kurtis Donica
played foot-
ball, basketball, baseball and
ran track — and was very good
in all.
He worked at Davidson Mill
and Donnie Wilbur Mill, as
well as Guarantee Motorhome
for 18 years, where he was a
successful salesman.
Kurt enjoyed fishing, hunt-
ing and camping with family
and friends. He loved the beach
and taking pictures.
He is survived by his stepfa-
ther and mother, Richard and
Sally Hubbard; his sisters:
Victoria Smith, Lorna Huston,
Tawnya Cook, Diana Morill,
Connie Orr; his brothers: Blake
(Corky) Donica, Mark Donica,
Rick Hubbard; and his nieces
and nephews — He was
“Uncle Smurf” to all of them.
He was preceded in death by
his father, Gerald (Judd)
Donica, and his sister Jeanene
K. Donica.
Kurt had a wonderful sense
of humor and loved life, family
and friends. He will be missed
by all.
There will be a celebration
of his life today, Dec. 10, at
92871 Parker Lane in Dexter,
Ore.
Another celebration of life in
the spring will be held at the
beach, with date and time to be
determined.

CASTILLON —Ramon
Pena Castillon, 84, of
Florence, passed away Nov.
29, 2016.
Born Oct. 28, 1932, he was a
loving husband, father, brother
and grandfather, and a friend to
all who crossed his path.
Ramon was born in Cuatla,
Jalisco Mexico, to Guadalupe
and Refugio Castillon.
In 1950, Ramon moved to
San Diego, Calif., to provide a
better life for his family. Later
in 1990, Ramon and his wife
settled in Florence to be closer
to their grand kids.
After his retirement, Ramon
spent much of his time visiting
family in California and look-
ing after his grandkids.
He is survived by his wife
Francisca Lepe; five children:
Jesus Pena, Enrique Pena,
Libby Pena, Lorena Garcia
and Ramon Pena; 14 siblings,
18 grandchildren and one
great-grandson.
He will always be remem-
bered for the wonderful man
he was.
A funeral was held Dec. 2 at
Burns’s Riverside Chapel
Florence Funeral Home with
interment to be in Mexico.

Cody Alen Benedix plead-
ed guilty to theft. He was sen-

Ryan William McCurdy
pleaded guilty to forgery. He
was sentenced to five days in
Florence City Jail. He must
pay $625 in fines and not con-
tact or be in or about the
premises, residence or places
of employment of the victims.
He must also write a sincere
apology letter.
Robert Bruce Pue pleaded
guilty to theft. He was sen-
tenced to three days in
Florence City Jail and must
report to Emergence Add-
iction and Mental Health
Services. He must pay $585 in
fines and not contact or be in or
about the premises or place of
employment of the victim.
Miguel Antonio Vasquez
pleaded no contest to harass-
ment. He was sentenced pro-
bation and must pay $425 in
fines. He must not have any
offensive contact with the
victim.
