Program offers property tax assistance
Lane County is participating
in a new State initiative
designed to help homeowners
who fall behind in their proper-
ty taxes.
The
Oregon
Homeownership Stabilization
Initiative (OHSI) was created
to administer United States
Treasury Hardest Hit Funds,
which provide foreclosure pre-
vention and community hous-
ing stabilization through direct
assistance to homeowners.
“Creating healthy and
vibrant communities is a prior-
ity of Lane County,” said Lane
County Assessor Mike Cowles.
“This initiative will help pro-
vide a safety net for people
WEDNESDAY THURSDAY
who are at risk of losing their
homes and also ensure County
services don’t lose funding as a
result.
“Providing stability for fam-
ilies and the community is an
important way to support a
healthy community,” he said.
Beginning Nov. 16, the pro-
gram will provide up to
$40,000 to bring current delin-
quent property tax accounts for
homeowners who meet the eli-
gibility requirements.
The benefit is provided in
the form of a no-interest, five-
year forgivable loan for which
a lien will be recorded against
the property.
Homeowners may be eligi-
ble to apply for assistance, if:
• They can afford their prop-
erty taxes going forward, once
they get caught up
• Their current income does
not exceed 120 percent of the
state median income
• They do not own other res-
idential property
• Their home is a one-unit,
single-family, owner-occupied,
primary residence, including
condos, townhomes and de-
titled manufactured homes
• Their property value does
not exceed $625,000
For more information,
homeowners can visit www.
oregonhomeownerhelp.org or

R 124 MIN – “A grandly entertaining stab at old-
fashioned storytelling…buoyed by smart and
stylish filmmaking, a good performance by Brad
Pitt & an even better one from Marion Cotillard.”
ARRIVAL
PG 116 MIN – A must see – 4 Stars
“Although Arrival is about first contact with
extraterrestrials, it says more about the human
experience than the creatures from another
world. This is a singularly powerful movie,
without question one of 2016’s best.” ReelViews
