Boat launch closed Friday
The Harbor Street boat
launch will be closed Friday,
Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
for maintenance.
The launch will be unavail-
able to launching or returning

Boaters are directed to the
boat launch at Cushman.
Normal service will return
Saturday, Nov. 19.
Dickens’ show entries sought
Backstreet Gallery will soon
host its 10th annual “Little
Dickens” juried miniature art
show. The public is invited to
participate in the exhibit that
will be displayed Dec. 6
through Jan. 6.
All media, 2D and/or 3D
pieces, are welcome in this
diminutive display.

Watershed Enhancement Board
(OWEB) selected the Siuslaw
Watershed Council to receive a
Salmon License Plate grant at
its October Board Meeting.
Salmon License Plate rev-
enues are generated from the
extra fee Oregonians pay when
they purchase Salmon Plates
for their vehicles.
The grant, “Walker Creek
Fish Passage Improvement,”
totals $260,837 and will
replace an undersized and fail-
ing culvert on Walker Creek in
the Siuslaw watershed and
restore coho salmon passage to
1.5 miles of high-quality
spawning and rearing habitat in

bination of Oregon Lottery and
federal funding.
In total, the OWEB Board
awarded 80 grants totaling
$7,371,614 to local organiza-
tions statewide to support fish
and wildlife habitat and water
quality projects using lottery,
Salmon License Plate and fed-
eral Pacific Coastal Salmon
Recovery funding provided by
the National Oceanic and
Atmospheric Administration at
their October meeting.
