FEC to host holiday art show, family night FLORENCE — The Florence Events center is “calling all artists” to submit applications for a special December exhibit called “Give Art This Christmas.” All art pieces entered are to be priced at under $100. An application fee of $10 is required (for up to three items), and appli- cations will be available online in November. Artists can also apply at the FEC office during business hours. This is a perfect time for artists to make their art available for people to give as Christmas gifts, including: original paintings, miniatures, photography and 3-D items. At the special Family Reception being held Dece. 11, artists can also sell prints and cards. Apply for the “Give Art This Christmas” exhibit and share your talents with members of the Florence community and beyond. This is not a themed exhibit. On Dec. 11, families are invited to come to the FEC from 3 to 6 p.m. to enjoy a Christmas Celebration in Gallery One. Photos with Mr. and Mrs. Santa will be available for a small fee, and photos will be processed immediately. This is a perfect time to get that fam- ily photo, as children and adults are welcome to pose with Santa. In addi- tion, artwork from local artists will be on display and priced at less than $100. Christmas cookies and punch will be served, and admission is free. Artwork exhibited will be available to view and purchase during the month of December. Santa will make a special visit during the Florence Events Center’s Family Christmas and Art Celebration Dec. 11. The feature film was produced and filmed by Aaron Moffatt. “Klamath” was screened as part of the day-long film festival that included 43 short films and a student film co-pro- duced by Pacific High and Driftwood stu- dents. The selected films were all about Oregon; the coast, the filmmakers, the students and the region. •Friday, Saturday, Nov 4,5,11,12 @ 7pm •Sunday Matinees, Nov 6,13 @ 2pm “It’s an honor to present these fine artists in this venue,” said festival founder Dave Wilhite. “Films were rolling all day long, which was great. The day-long fes- tival pass gave the attendees a chance to get outside and return to the theater for more films.” Businesses around the theater benefit- ted as people took breaks at local eateries. “It really didn’t matter what time you showed up, the projector was rolling all day long,” said Wilhite Festival organizers are firming up plans for next year’s festival for a 2017 pre- miere at the Egyptian Theatre in Fall 2017. 210 2nd Street Southeast, Bandon, OR 97411 (541) 347-4133 Open Daily 11AM – Close Florence Events Center • 715 Quince St, (541) 997-1994 TICKETS $20 eventcenter.org • last resortplayers.org Want more arts & entertainment News?
