The Boys and Girls Club
of Western Lane County
Elementary
Program
Member of the Month is an
award for good character and
citizenship.
Each month, the staff of
the Boys and Girls Club
select the member that was
the role model for all club
members. Some of the char-
acteristics that the staff looks
for are respect for others,
going above and beyond in
everything they do, encour-
aging others, engaging oth-
ers, club and school atten-
dance, completing home-
work, kindness and the way
they treat others when no one
is looking.
Each Member of the
Month is awarded a new
watch donated by Liz Breon,
owner of Coastal Jewelers.
The Boys and Girls Club
fills the gap between school
and home, where kids need
help the most. The club pro-
vides safe, welcoming, posi-
tive environments in which
kids and teens have fun, par-
ticipate in life-changing pro-
grams and build supportive
relationships with peers and
caring adults.
The goal for each member
is academic success, good
character, citizenship and a
healthy lifestyle.

Local citizens waved flags along Highway 101 at Old Cedartree on Saturday and received what Donald Trump sup-
porter Sherry Harvey described as “overwhelming positive response from passing drivers,” who honked and gave a
thumbs-up. The group also shared corners with the peace flag waving at Highways 101 and 126. “Next week, we plan
to do it again and share cookies with people as well,” said Harvey, who added, “Don’t forget to vote.”
Friendship Club to host
card game fundraiser
The Friendship Club is
hosting a Card Party on
Saturday, Nov. 12, at the
Florence Elks RV Park,
05607 Mercer Lake Road.
It will begin at 11 a.m., and
the cost is $15, which
includes lunch of chili with
all the fixings.

ities.
